Vigorous Remembrance

My heaviest figure has an internal structure made from quarter inch pencil rod that has been wrapped in metal mesh, or chicken wire, filled with spray foam, and then coated with a plaster concrete mixture.  This figure, Vigorous Remembrance, is seated and resting leaning back onto its arms and hands.  I chose to use concrete for the only seated figure to add to the idea of being weighted and tired.  Almost exhausted from the physical exertion that was previously released.  The medium and body language should both lend themselves to the idea of enervation.  Suitable for this piece, I had to install and concrete the figure inside the gallery the day before the exhibition opened which, for me, lends additional significance to the title.
